January Review

Updated: Mar 11, 2020

After a wonderfully musical festive period - from performing in Christmas Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to a Carol Concert with Prospect Brass Band in my hometown - I felt ready to face the new year 'head-on'. January has been an extremely busy month for me; with many university deadlines, recitals and competitions. This blog post is a little update on music college life at the RNCM and recent external activities.

Recitals

It was an absolute delight to perform two recitals with pianist Duncan Glenday. The first being at St. Mary in the Baum, Rochdale (Toad Lane Concerts) and the second being at Uppermill Methodist Church (Uppermill Festival Coffee Concerts). Duncan and I performed Schumann's beloved Song Cycle 'Frauenliebe und Leben' - a favourite work of mine. I am extremely happy to have been invited back to St. Mary in the Baum with Duncan for a second recital on April 1st - (for more details, do keep an eye on my 'Events' page!).

David Clover Festival of Singing

It was a joy to participate in the 'David Clover Festival of Singing 2020' in Sheffield with pianist Max Bilbe. Max and I performed works by Reynaldo Hahn and Franz Liszt. Although no prize for us on this occasion, Max and I are very grateful for the performance opportunity and the wonderful, supportive overall experience!

Composition Update

This academic year I have selected a composition module, to re-engage with the love I found for composing whilst at Chetham's School of Music. Throughout the year, I plan on increasing my compositional output. For information regarding my recent compositions, you can visit my 'Composition' page, and for commission enquiries, please get in touch via my 'Contact' page.

The Hallé

'Beethoven 250' celebrations are well and truly underway. It was fantastic to watch the Hallé Orchestra in rehearsal with Sir Mark Elder for their performances of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. I am thoroughly enjoying working with the Hallé Youth Ensembles as an artistic administrator.

GOOD NEWS!

I am extremely happy to have successfully applied for the 'Mascarade Opera Studio' Opera Summer School 2020, in collaboration with the 'New Generation Festival'. This summer, I will travel to Florence for week of intensive coaching on selected opera scenes and career development by renowned industry professionals!
