Finally, there is already a dizzying choice of Proms to choose from on BBC Sounds, but if you didn’t catch it, hear Haydn’s Creation sung by the fresh voices of the Proms Youth Choir, with Omer Meir Wellber, the BBC Philharmonic and some strong soloists, including the young mezzo Lucy Farrimond, who stepped out of the choir to join the principals in their final Amens. Such aplomb.

A young composer has teamed up with the borough’s biggest celebration of cinema by writing the event its own theme music.
Lucy Farrimond, who studies at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, has created the orchestral introduction track for the Leigh Short Film Festival.

Lucy’s piece was recently performed by the Chetham’s Chamber Choir at the Light Up A Life Service in aid of St Ann’s Hospice at Manchester Cathedral.
