INTRO

On Friday 23rd March, 2023, I participated in a wonderful concert 'Voices of Women'. Organised by Alice Yeoman, this concert championed works by female composers to raise funds for 'Project Pearl', a new project which has developed following several years of outreach work with women who are involved in sex work in Manchester and Salford, many of whom are experiencing homelessness and struggling with addiction.

COMPOSERS | COMMISSION

Composers included; Catharina Van Rennes, Alice Mary Smith, Fanny Mendelssohn, Rebecca Clarke, Annabel Rooney, Lucy Farrimond, Emily Hall, Cecile Chaminade and Carol King.

It was an honour to be commissioned to write a piece for the event. My work 'HER VOICE' - composed for three sopranos, three altos and piano - was inspired by the occasion, with my own text reflecting upon the importance of using one's own voice freely in strength and solidarity with fellow women. I hope to record and release this piece very soon - stay tuned!

PROJECT PEARL

We are thrilled to have raised over £300 for 'Project Pearl'!

"The vision of Project Pearl is to see women who feel trapped in the sex industry set free to step into their full potential for their future purpose in life in a world where sexual exploitation has been eradicated from both streets and screens. Our mission is to provide a first step Christian-led ‘home from home’ sanctuary and a specialist chaplaincy outreach service, all providing practical and spiritual care for women who are working in and affected by the sex industry."
